Sunrise Movement Grinnell Hub Leader

2019 – Present

The purpose of Sunrise Movement Grinnell Hub is to engage in environmental activism in Grinnell and throughout Iowa. We are affiliated with and follow the principles of the national Sunrise Movement and its parent organization Sunrise as a regional hub. With Sunrise Grinnell, I organize people power to fight the climate crisis through communicating with other hubs across Iowa and students on Grinnell College’s campus.

Editor of “The Sustainability Corner” Newsletter

August 2021 – Present

Inspired by the efforts of one of my classmates to begin a newsletter for environmental events on campus pre-COVID, I restarted the production of “The Sustainability Corner” at Grinnell. Connecting with environmental leaders on campus, I collect contact and event information to distribute to students interested in environmentalism and environmental activism. In each issue I also include sustainability resources on campus and a few fun activities. The Sustainability Corner is currently distributed as a PDF via email.

Bronze Award [2011] and Silver Award [2014]

Awarded by the Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys

The Girl Scouts’ Bronze and Silver Awards are the second and third highest honors a girl scout can achieve. For My bronze award project, my troop 53557 built a community garden around the peace pole at Thomas Lake Elementary School in Eagan, MN (Page 4). I received a letter from the Minnesota House of Representatives recognizing and thanking our troop for our hard work.

For my Silver Award, I developed the ultimate “How to Camp Like A Girl Scout” Kit, with instructions, videos, and sample supplies to teach girls outdoor skills. I then donated the kits to the Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys.
